Looking for a fence contractor you can trust?

Wood Privacy Fences

Here at First Rate Fence & Supply we are experts when it comes to wood fencing. While there are many different popular styles and an infinite number of custom designs, our most popular fence option is the Cedar Privacy Fence. It’s a classic for a reason. It offers great coverage from nosy neighbors and helps with light and noise pollution from busy streets. Whether you want a classic cedar privacy fence, a modern horizontal fence, or anything in between, we have you covered. If you’re ready to take your home to the next level, give us a call today to schedule your FREE estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How tall should my privacy fence be?

A: Privacy fence height varies depending on your particular needs and the permit requirements in your neighborhood. We recommend a minimum height of 6ft (this is the average privacy fence height), anything shorter than a 6ft privacy fence does little in the way of privacy and can lead to an escape if you have athletic dogs (or kids)!

Q: What are my design options with a wood privacy fence?

A: While the most popular option is a simple wood privacy fence with standard 4 or 6 inch wood pickets, there are many wood fence designs available to you. For example, you could go with a more elaborate fence design like a Board on Board Privacy Fence if you’re looking for a bit of extra coverage from light pollution, a Lattice Top Privacy Fence if you like something more decorative, or a Horizontal Privacy Fence if you’re a fan of a more modern look. If you prefer a more rustic fence, we would recommend something more like a cedar split rail fence or ranch rail fence. With so many wood fence options, the sky is the limit when it comes to design.

Q: How can I make my fence last longer?

A: There are ways to make your fence last longer. Staining the fence is one way to prolong the (above ground) life of your wood fence. The stain will protect the wood from excessive UV and water damage. However, staining alone will not stop the posts in the ground from water damage over a prolonged period of time. The ultimate solution to rotting posts is to make the switch to metal posts, we like Master Halco Postmaster Posts. These metal posts are low profile, sturdy, can be disguised to blend in with your wood pickets, and will stand the test of time.
